Best Locations for Family Photos in Paris

EIFFEL TOWER
Iconic Family photos in Paris

The Eiffel Tower is the most iconic setting for family photos in Paris. For many families visiting the city, capturing beautiful images with the tower in the background is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

There are several ideal spots for a family photoshoot near the Eiffel Tower. Trocadéro offers wide open views and soft morning light, perfect for relaxed and timeless family portraits. Bir-Hakeim bridge provides elegant architecture and framed perspectives of the tower. The riverside along the Seine creates a more natural atmosphere, while nearby side streets with Eiffel Tower views feel quieter and more intimate.

For families traveling to Paris for the first time, this location combines emotion, elegance and instantly recognizable Paris charm.

LOUVRE
Elegant Family photography in Paris

The Louvre pyramid and its historic courtyard offer a refined and architectural backdrop for family photography in Paris. The contrast between the modern glass pyramid and the classical stone buildings creates a timeless and sophisticated setting.

This location works beautifully for families who appreciate clean lines and elegant composition. The open space allows children to move naturally while parents enjoy a structured and visually striking background.

Morning family sessions at the Louvre are particularly magical, when the light is soft and the courtyard is still quiet.

ALEXANDRE III bridge
& Petit Palais
Parisian grandeur

Pont Alexandre III is one of the most elegant bridges in Paris, known for its golden statues and ornate details. Combined with the golden gate of the Petit Palais, it creates a stunning and refined setting for family photos in Paris.

This area offers wide open views over the Seine and beautiful Parisian architecture, and it also has a view on the Eiffel Tower (in the distance).

It’s ideal for families looking for an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, slightly away from the busiest tourist areas.

The combination of golden details, river views and Paris skyline creates truly timeless family portraits.

GARDENS & PARKS
Natural and Relaxed Family photos

PParis gardens offer a softer and more playful environment for family photography sessions.

Palais Royal is famous for its graphic columns and elegant arcades, which children love to explore. The Tuileries Garden provides open paths and classic Paris scenery. Luxembourg Garden offers greenery, seasonal flowers and a calm atmosphere, especially beautiful in spring and summer.

These parks are perfect for younger children who need space to move freely, making the family photoshoot feel natural, dynamic and stress-free.

PARIS STREETS
Authentic Family moments

Charming Paris streets, whether in Montmartre or near Le Marais and Île de la Cité, create an authentic and intimate backdrop for family photos in Paris.

Cobblestone streets, colorful doors, quiet corners and small staircases encourage spontaneous interaction and candid family moments. These locations are ideal for families who prefer a natural and documentary feel rather than a posed session.

Walking through Paris together often creates the most genuine and emotional images.

PARIS CAFES
Casual & joyful Family Memories

Including a Paris café in your family photoshoot adds a relaxed and joyful touch to your session.

Children enjoy sitting at a small round table with a croissant or hot chocolate, while parents can enjoy a quiet coffee break. These moments often create the most authentic smiles and natural interactions.

Cafés bring a casual Parisian atmosphere to your family photography session and are often the perfect way to end a relaxed morning shoot.

Tips for a Relaxed Family Photoshoot

HOW LONG
should your Family photoshoot in Paris last?

Keep it short, but not too short!

From experience, I know that children — and especially toddlers — usually have a limited attention span. That’s why most family photoshoots in Paris work best when they last between 45 minutes and 1 hour per location.

For families who would like to explore different Paris locations (for example the Eiffel Tower and a nearby garden), sessions can extend to 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the children’s age and energy.

At the same time, some kids need a little time to feel comfortable in front of the camera. I always allow space for natural moments, small breaks and playful interactions so the experience stays relaxed and enjoyable for everyone.

The goal is never to rush — but to keep the session dynamic, fun and perfectly adapted to your family.

BEST TIME OF THE DAY
for your family photoshoot in Paris:

Morning sessions are usually the best option for family photos in Paris, especially if you’d like pictures near the Eiffel Tower or other popular locations. Light is softer and flattering, and the city is much quieter — which makes the experience more relaxed for children.

In spring and summer, morning sessions offer beautiful golden light and comfortable temperatures. In autumn and winter, mid & late morning can also work perfectly, depending on the weather and your children’s schedule.

Choosing the right time of day helps ensure natural smiles, soft light and a stress-free experience for the whole family.

WHAT TO WEAR
for Your Family Photoshoot in Paris:

For timeless family photos in Paris, I recommend soft, neutral tones that complement the city’s elegant architecture. Beige, cream, soft blue, pastel tones and light earth colors work beautifully near the Eiffel Tower and historic Parisian streets.

Avoid large logos or bold patterns, and try to coordinate rather than match outfits exactly. Layers, textured fabrics and flowing dresses photograph particularly well in Paris.

Most importantly, choose outfits your children feel comfortable in — happy kids make the best photos.

Let’s get more prepared!

1. How to Prepare Kids for a Family Session in Paris
The key to a successful family photoshoot in Paris is to keep things relaxed and fun. There’s no need to pressure children to “behave perfectly.” Natural moments often create the most meaningful images.
Make sure children are well rested and have eaten beforehand. Bringing a small snack or comfort item can also help younger kids feel at ease. Family photography sessions are designed to be playful and natural, allowing your children’s personalities to shine.

2. Let’s get some gorgeous group & family shots…
From some group pictures of the whole family to smaller ones (mother/daughter pictures, kids together, etc.), you can think beforehand of the different configurations of pictures you’d like. No worries though, I’m used to do this and guide, so if you’re not sure, I’ll always suggest the different possible groups, but will also guide you if you want different types of pictures (portraits, candid moment, etc.)

3. …and let’s have candid moments too !
By being used to deal with young children and toddlers, I also know that we can’t expect them to be smiling the whole time to the camera ! So we’ll make sure to vary the poses, going from some formal group photos to some candid ones, including some fun ones, close-up portraits and others in motion. It’s just also a great way to get real expressions and emotions and get creative pictures !

4. Weather Backup Plan
Paris weather can be unpredictable, but beautiful family photos are possible in almost any conditions.
If light rain is forecast, we can often adjust timing or choose sheltered locations with stunning Parisian architecture. Overcast skies actually create soft and flattering light for portraits.
In case of heavy rain or extreme weather, we can discuss rescheduling options whenever possible.
Flexibility ensures your family photos in Paris remain a joyful experience.

5. Anticipate your photo session in Paris

a. before traveling to Paris :
Of course, we will first decide about the locations ! If you want, you can send me some of my photos that you really liked (Portfolio, Blog, Instagram…) including your favorite locations or poses or that you’d like me to try recreating.
Think of what you’ll need on the photoshoot’s day and pack accordingly. Remember that you’ll be traveling, so you won’t have the comfort from home. For example make sure to pack your complete outfit(s), your beauty kit, your electric iron and/or hair straightener (and the fitting power converter) or check with the hotel if they have one.

b. before your photoshoot :
Download & use Uber app to get easily to the meeting point. Take some flats or sandals for in between the shots in case you’re planning on wearing painful high heels, and also an extra jackets as some mornings can still be a bit chilly in spring and Fall. In general, keep what you’re taking with you to the minimum (small water, wallet, phone…)

That’s it, you’re almost ready for your family photoshoot in Paris !
So dress casual or formal, be quiet or crazy as you are used to be, and let’s have a great time together in Paris !
But no worries, we’ll be in touch by email before our photo session, and we’ll get prepared accordingly before we will meet !

Family, Fun and Eiffel Tower !
